It made me think: As humans, we are a very lonely species. There are no living beings of the same intellectual capacity as us other than ourselves. Chimps and gorillas have comparable intellectual capacities.
We can bond with cats, dogs, and other pets but they have much lower intellect than us. Imagine how cool it would be to have friends from different species with similar intellectual capacities to ours.

- hnfong 4y agoIf for example my dog is more intelligent than I am then I’m too dumb to recognize it. Same for others.
- exitb 4y agoGiven our history, I think it's for the better.
- hutzlibu 4y ago"Imagine how cool it would be to have friends from different species with similar intellectual capacities to ours." Well, there were the Neanderthals and they are not around anymore.
- 9dev 4y agoCompare: Dark Forest theory.
- bee_rider 4y agoDo they have similar capabilities? The gap between humans and just about every other animal, intelligence wise, seems to be so incredibly huge that many of them look to be around the same to us. Animal intelligence is hard to measure of course, but chimpanzees have higher encephalization quotient, form larger group sizes, and seem to have more complex tool usage.
