Is the US good at shutting down Indian and Chinese coal plants?
- kelseyfrog 4y agoThe US could be great at shutting down Indian and Chinese coal plants by EO. Just provide asylum to those that would seek to do it by any means necessary.
- tb_technical 4y agoCould you please clarify? Are you talking about encouraging wreckers and then taking them in as refugees?
- kelseyfrog 4y agoYes, this is the climate change version of McD Theory[1]. 1. https://jonbell.medium.com/mcdonalds-theory-9216e1c9da7d https://jonbell.medium.com/mcdonalds-theory-9216e1c9da7d
- tb_technical 4y agoSelecting something awful for lunch doesn't have potential for disasterous consequences the way state sponsored terrorism does, though.
- kelseyfrog 4y agoFeel free to suggest your own bad solution!
- tb_technical 4y agoNuke China and India? We would drastically cut emissions for a small toll of three billion lives. Then we could pollute as much as we want! /s
- ncmncm 4y agoYou can shut down coal plants by simply providing power more cheaply than they could afford to continue operating. Renewables achieve this, and just need to be built out. But building out takes time.
- partiallypro 4y agoWait, so you're proposing the US pay for India and China's power?
- ncmncm 4y agoWhat? No, undercut them.
