Resources to learn to build a dynamic linker
I would love to go through the exercise of building a dynamic linker.
Unfortunately there is so little subject matter on this vs. something like a compiler.
Are there any good learning resources?
I have tried auditing glibc or musl but they are either so complex or terse.
Does an implementation for the purpose of learning exist?
- mac3n 4y ago"Linkers and Loaders" John R. Levine, https://linker.iecc.com/ https://linker.iecc.com/
- setheron 4y agoBought the book....kind of shallow. It's more geared to the user facing side or how to specify compiler command line flags.
- dswilkerson 4y agoLikely just try to build one. The constraining resource is just being able to play with ELF files. The best ELF library we have found is https://github.com/serge1/ELFIO https://github.com/serge1/ELFIO . Very easy to use and works predictably.
