This seems like a hit piece. No, not every idea of Elon Musk is worth considering, but in this case he is absolutely right about mass transit and hyperloops.
We need a combination of underground hyperloop systems and overhead maglevs for inter and intra city transportation.
We can get rid of cars and public parking spaces. The roads can still be used by personal vehicles for a small annual use fee. And we just saved a shit ton of taxes that is mostly used for care and feeding of govt employees and their bloated pension funds until forever.
At some point, we have to start living efficiently. If it means less govt jobs..so be it. UBI would still be cheaper.
If EM wasn’t dumb as rocks to listen to his sycophant friends, his reputation wouldn’t be in shreds and he could have built 2-3 truly sustainable cities with the stupid money he was going to use to buy Twitter..and could have be the emperor of his own domain.
Now it’s going to be open season on EM. Can’t say he doesn’t deserve it.

- jelliclesfarm 4y agoWe haven’t yet, have we? Do we need to be efficient? Or do we want to be efficient?
- gus_massa 4y agoWe use special lanes for bus here in Buenos Aires, and they work quite well. They are much cheaper than a underground vacuum tube. Another advantage is that they can change the path in case of the road is blocked. (We also have normal bus, subways, trains, and one tramway. Subways are faster but more expensive. Trains case a lot of problem because they split the city, but they are more efficient for mass transit.)
