I don't trust Chinese phones, sorry.
- itsoktocry 4y agoBut you trust "US" phones (made in China or elsewhere), where the data you store on them could actually be used against you?
- _chu1 4y agoI trust a Pixel 5a with GrapheneOS where everything on my phone is encrypted, and in the future I won't even have any personal information on my phone. Don't care much for smartphones other than the fact my generation really likes Discord.
- AbrahamParangi 4y agoWhy is the response always “what about US” instead of defending the thing at hand?
- CryptoBanker 4y agoBecause none of them has come up with a good defense of their policies. The day a single one of them does, all of them start spouting the exact same thing
- iudqnolq 4y ago1 country spying on me is better than 2
- sattoshi 4y agoCounter point: Chinese spying will not affect you to any degree. Your own country spying on you is much more of an issue.
- Ekaros 4y agoAnd again which one is known for mass murders around the globe? It is pretty clear which one is much more risks and much more evil.
- jychang 4y agoThe USA is well known for global power projection and coups/CIA plans/military operations around the globe. China… can barely get their own ships out of their own backyard. From the perspective of the global citizen, arguably the USA would present more unilateral risk. The USA wouldn’t hesitate to act in their own interests in a way that screws others over. Then again, China has even less scruples, so it’s a lose/lose situation here.
- iudqnolq 4y agoI see no reason either will effect me besides my moral dislike of being spied on. Plus I have nonzero but small legal rights and remedies to mitigate my own country's surveillance of me.
- danuker 4y agoFor one, you could more easily get on no-fly lists, since more data about you means more data to match against whatever secret crterion. Even if it is all false positives.
- pyinstallwoes 4y agoClassic misdirection. Clandestine information control 101 next to sliding.
- Ekaros 4y agoAnd I would trust phones manufactured in USA even less.
