Like I said, we've been on this for a while. I never even thought about the license cost until they sent out an email with a nearly 25% (from memory) cost increase. Simply put, from my perspective, what they have probably accomplished with this is to have lots of customers question the expense and take the time to investigate alternatives. Not smart. At all. You keep the customers who have been supporting you at their pricing level and onboard new customers under a new model. The old customers remain very happy and appreciate the recognition. In fact, you could offer old customers a window of opportunity to buy new licenses that would also remain locked at the old pricing model. If you hit everyone with a 25% price increase, all you accomplish is to piss people off and cause them to ask questions they never had. It goes from never thinking about the cost to becoming something on a to-do list.
