How America deals with housing policies is a joke and should be embarrassing for the public sector that is managing it.
Most planned communities have a certain ratio of high income/medium income and low income homes and a built in infrastructure. Population should be fit into infrastructure.
In other words, population moves in after the govt builds the infrastructure thereby proving the usefulness of their existence. However, in America, population is stuffed into high density sardine can cities hoping to tax the cream or high income households that thins per person allocation of resources from diminishing taxes.
Then the geniuses that run the pirate ship control center called city councils spend half a decade drawing a budget during what h time the city becomes unbearably unliveable and unaffordable. And when it’s time to implement bare minimum infrastructure, it’s already a decade late and population has doubled and inflation has increased the budge..but after the rich flight out of these once desirable cities, there is not enough revenue. Proposals go back to the drawing table and some weak sauce like ‘green initiatives’ ..as in add solar panels to city offices parking lot or plant trees to make up for the trees they cut to build high density housing ends to saving face before the next election cycle.
The article is silly and entirely unhelpful. It frustrates me because it tries to be clever ..or maybe ‘funny’..but has no useful solutions to a very real problem in America.
America needs to accept America. High density is a made up wannabe solution for an artificial self inflicted problem. There is no need for a resource rich and expansive country like America to plod along into high density solutions of resource poor and crowded countries. It’s like the rich trustafarian kids dumpster diving with their best friends to experience homelessness and hunger. Cringe.
