Tangential but does HN have a favorite workout app / training program?
- random42_ 4y agoI use Strong to track weight lifting workouts. For running I use the workout app in my Apple Watch.
- speedgoose 4y agoI like http://workoutdoors.net http://workoutdoors.net because it brings OSM outdoor maps to the Apple Watch. Otherwise Strava is very important in my village.
- huseyinkeles 4y ago+1 for WorkOutDoors. It supports exporting to Strava as well btw.
- serpix 4y agoWorkoutdoors is a diamond, unicorn, gem of an app. This single app is better than what Garmin, Suunto, Polar, Apple combined put out.
- AustinDev 4y agofuture.co is pretty good if you like being accountable to a real person.
- telesilla 4y agoWhen they support Android, that would be lovely.
- naet 4y agoThe reddit community body weight fitness and their recommended starting routine[1] were a really great resource for me getting started. There are a couple adult fitness parks nearby my area that have related equipment (pull-up / dip bars, inclined planks with handholds, etc), and one also has it's own very similar fitness routine recommendations printed on a sign. I now do my own more customized routine, but I wouldn't have been able to get started or figure it out without those initial resources. The Couch to 5k program is a great place to start if you're interested in more cardio / running for beginners, and there are a bunch of free apps to help you time and track your progress. - diebeforei485 4y agoApple's paid Fitness+ service is excellent. You can filter workout by the equipment you have available. So far you've needed an Apple Watch to use it, but you can use it with just your iPhone when iOS 16.1 comes out later this month. You can get 3 months free - https://www.bestbuy.com/site/apple-free-apple-fitness-for-3-months-new-subscribers-only/6489578.p?skuId=6489578 https://www.bestbuy.com/site/apple-free-apple-fitness-for-3-...
- donio 4y agoMine is a 2 step program: 1. Carefully place phone and all other gadgets and distractions on the table 2. Go for a run
- freetime2 4y agoTrainingPeaks was nice when I was training for a specific cycling event. But it’s a little too expensive for me to pay for the premium version year-round. Does anyone have any alternative suggestions for planning/tracking workouts by TSS? Zwift makes indoor cycling tolerable for me in the winter months.
