You still need at least a locally running spreadsheet application for the Excel wizards.
If I were Google or Slack, I would push Libreoffice Calc to be better than Excel. Only then will big companies be able to use an MS Office alternative.
- whywhywhywhy 4y agoI might be wrong but I assumed the popularity of running Excel locally wasn't because it was local but because that's where Excel ran and Excel is what they're in love with.
- tkk23 4y agoI also might be wrong but I assumed that a local app still has an edge over a website. This [1] is an old video about how Excel is used professionally. If that's not possible then the website is not good enough. [1] https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=12450070 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=12450070
