Innovation isn't very likely to be found in a sterile corporate environment.
The attempts by Meta to control so tightly what content ends up on the Quest will only end up with results that are a reflection of their creators.
I felt like i wanted to throw up with the whole bay area, corporate environment vibe this presentation gave off.
I was most excited by the prospect of having Xbox game pass on this thing until i found out all it is is a big screen in VR (What's the fucking point, guys?). If they have the engineering resources to convert even a portion of fan favorites into native VR experiences, that's going to kill.
This feels a lot like IBM labs where the technology is "there", but these clowns are not the ones who're going to find the killer application and yet are hell bent on controlling the whole thing.
Someones going to come around eventually and hook this up with porn, native video games, psychedelic experiences in legal states etc and push the boundaries of exciting yet controversial content that would never get past the committee of corpo minded rats at Meta and that will be when it takes off.
For their sake, i hope Meta realize this.
