Even if the US banned single use plastic, (which would have a ton of other negative environmental effects, due to the higher carbon and water footprint) it still wouldn't have much of an effect on where most of the Plasti CI coming from, poor countries. The blindingly obvious solution is to figure out how to help/incentivize/fund better trash management systems in poor countries.
