I recently put a 4TB 7200RPM Seagate hard drive into my dev box, split it into multiple partitions and mount them on /var/lib/docker, /var/lib/rancher/rke2 and a local nfs server (that used as an nfs persistent volume in my local rke2 kubernetes installation), and it's loud! It's like I'm going back to the 2000s. Accessing any services hosted in the local kubernetes platform or building a docker image would trigger a storm of clicking noises. Heck, even during idle, kubernetes is pretty chatty and would trigger clicking noises every so often.
I also had an instance of home assistant accessible from internet, but it's on raspberry pi so it's silent. My ISP has cgnat though, so I had to route all connections via my vps through zero-tier.
