I worked on a Decentraland project, as-of-yet and probably never to be launched, that highlighted one major thing — its a digital real-estate bubble. People are buying land as a investment, and doing nothing with it. The inflated cost of land (or more specifically, using it as another NFT investment) has destroyed what hope there was for Decentraland to build any form of community. If you were altruistically in love with the metaverse concept, and wanted to get started on DCL, hope you have a few thousand laying around... What exists now are just online casinos.
