What stack did the switch from/to?
- throwawaymaths 4y agoElixir to kotlin
- 29athrowaway 4y agoElixir to Kotlin https://medium.com/brexeng/building-backend-services-with-kotlin-7c8410795e4b https://medium.com/brexeng/building-backend-services-with-ko... Note that Brex founders are Brazilian and the Elixir author is Brazilian.
- okdood64 4y agoAre you suggesting that Japanese founders might be more likely to use Ruby?
- adamnemecek 4y agoThey definitely are.
- ch4s3 4y agoNot only that, but a number of Brazilian banks use Elixir.
- Apocryphon 4y agoMissed opportunity to use Lua with that logic.
- ch4s3 4y agoLua is pretty nice, especially if you can use the JIT. I think there were some elixir consultancies in Brazil other than Plataformatec that did a lot of work in finance so it spread around.
- borski 4y agoThis sounds like a sarcastic question, but it’s actually true. Japanese founders are more likely to use Ruby.
- langsoul-com 4y agoI wonder if that's because the docs better Japanese support. I think it was Toyota that made English mandatory for their dev division. Just because of the tools and docs are on English.
- okdood64 4y agoOh definitely wasn't supposed to be sarcastic. I Googled around a bit and couldn't find much.
- yasinaydin 4y agoI think for the same reason Vue.js is more popular in China than almost anywhere else. Chinese was also the only non-English docs language at the beginning.
- icelancer 4y agoWhat? This is just actually true.
