This does not just go for Wikipedia/Wikimedia but also for e.g. Mozilla. There has been a consistent push from "progressive" activists to take over large public institutions and bend them to their own purposes, a process which James Linday - of the "Grievance studies hoax", co-author of "Cynical Theories" - compares to the action of the Cordyceps mushroom which takes over insect hosts and has them position themselves in positions where they can be used to spread the spores of the fungus to other insects.
It is imperative to find out how this process starts and what can be done to thwart these activists. There are plenty of targets left for takeover - e.g. the Debian project and the Linux kernel (which already has accepted the 'Contributor Covenant Code of Conduct', a clear entry point for activism into the project) to give a few examples.
