I find this to be a false dichotomy of a statement: "either we eat fish or we don't". Unfortunately, supply and demand are clashing here - overfishing is a real and tangible problem! The most likely path forward, and third option, is farmed fish and other seafood. One such company making excellent in-roads is TransparentSea, a pretty cool shrimp farming operation. Too bad I think shrimp are disgusting, lol. Farmed tilapia it is for me!
