I’m in very close to the same place you are, except full custom loop. I’m not sure I can go back to air cooled, but the cost in time for a new custom loop is non-trivial. The fact is, other than gaming, and then, only at the upper end, there’s no reason to buy new desktops or laptops. Most folks upgrade laptops either due to battery or wear-and-tear. My corp laptop has barely moved in the last year due to the pandemic, so there’s very little reason to upgrade.
