The "come back home" functionality relies on the GPS on the drone, but the "follow me while filming" needs the phone's. I saw quite a lot of motorcycling vlogs using that feature.
- brokenmachine 4y agoCorrect me if I'm wrong but I thought the follow me is visual. I doubt the phone GPS would be accurate enough to keep you in frame - remember, if you were only using GPS for tracking like that, then you're getting both the error of the phone GPS as well as the error in the drone GPS. I've only really seen it in action on a DJI mini 3 pro. I believe you can do follow me from the controller without a phone involved at all.
