In theory, we could see DSLR-type devices using the smartphone software and other advantages with better hardware and form factors, that would maintain their advantage. Things like the DJI Ronin. But the DSLR use-case dictates their business; users are dedicated to the kit and methods they have already cultivated over the years. This is going to impede innovation, because they'll demand innovation on their terms, which the DSLR makers don't have the capital that the smartphone makers have to bring to this to fruition.
