Never encountered this?
- MerelyMortal 4y agoI've only encountered this on HN, but I don't move in crowds that care about status symbols, so idk.

- dsissitka 4y agoThere's the iMessage green bubble thing. https://archive.ph/s9oSm https://archive.ph/s9oSm https://www.reddit.com/r/Tinder/comments/v7a7s3/your_phone_says_a_lot_about_you/ https://www.reddit.com/r/Tinder/comments/v7a7s3/your_phone_s...
- MikePlacid 4y ago> I don’t know if it’s Apple propaganda or just like a tribal in-group versus out-group thing going on, but people don’t seem to like green text bubbles that much and seem to have this visceral negative reaction to it. I am not a teenager and I do not care about status symbols, but I too have an immediate negative reaction to green bubbles. iMessage Internet-based delivery system is just sooo much better than an SMS one. “Message failed to deliver, repeat?” - what’s not to dread here. Journos though seem to constantly ignore technical, engineering differences between solutions which make people prefer to use one or another. Probably conspiracy theories sell better.
- eertami 4y agoNobody uses iMessage or SMS outside of the US. If those are the only two ways someone communicates on their phone, you can guarantee they don't have any international friends.
