That "foam pit" looks crazy to me. Sharp angled firm blocks that do not appear to have much give (see the video linked from @rurban).
This feels like a case where having this 'foam pit' may be more dangerous than not having anything. Something like bike helmets positively correlated with more dangerous behavior / more accidents.
- Ekaros 4y agoYou actually want foam blocks that don't have much give as humans tend to be pretty heavy. But you also want lot of them. I think in circus school I was one time there was over meter of this stuff.
- OrangeMonkey 4y agoA human falling is a lot of energy. Energy has to go somewhere. Either the foam will compress, or it won't compress and the energy will 'dissipate' in the human body. In this case, we had foam that appeared non-compressable with sharp points that hit on the back. This feels like a level of stupid that it takes an MBA to come up with.
- Ekaros 4y agoI don't think foam is that hard. There just isn't nearly enough of it. It seems there is barely 30 cm or something and people are hitting the bottom that is floor.
