Except I've learned the hard way it's not fast. Every week or so I lose an entire day to trying to update dependencies and then fixing what broke. So instead of going fast I'm stuck doing maintenance. Even on my own projects there's been so many times when I had some free time I thought I'd try to make some progress on a personal project I haven't touched in 3-4 months but all that happens is 2-4hrs wasted on old dependencies.
