Think Getty, Gavin Newsom's patron. The Asian population of San Francisco is about 33%. It has had a grand total of 1 Asian mayor in its entire history and he was initially appointed. Behind the scenes politics in San Francisco has always been dominated by money and that money is virtually all white. Think Getty, Shorenstein, etc before and now Conway, Benioff, etc...
