Constitutional Amendment Proposals with Broad Cross-Ideological Support
- dane-pgp 4y ago> Making the Constitution easier to amend in the future I think that any changes that give more power to gerrymandered legislatures (at the state and federal levels) are a bad idea. That's before we consider the problem that politicians don't represent their voters well, due to lax campaign finance rules, and a voting system that leads to "two big to fail" parties. More modest proposals would be to allow limits on expenditure on political advertising, Zweitmandat MMP for electing representatives to congress[0], and something like the Lodge-Gossett amendment[1] for making electoral votes proportional to the popular votes within each state (as a compromise short of a full national popular vote).
