I solemnly swear I read the entire article. I still don't really comprehend why the film ends with the phrase "mother will be pleased".
- aasasd 4y agoMight be some memetic cultural thing from that period, such that most everyone knew what that meant—but it was lost in time.
- BizarroLand 4y agoI assumed it had something to do with the mother either telling him to be careful or he'd get run over by one of those "god-awful automobiles" and that she'll be pleased that she was right, or maybe slightly less likely that his mother hated him and will be happy that he's dead.
