There's a lot of debate to be had about whether the fault here should lie with the professor or the students. My general opinion is that if everyone is doing poorly it's the professor's fault, and after reading the Reddit thread I see nothing to justify an exception here. And none of this has anything to do with critical race theory or any other right wing dog-whistle. Also, since when did right-wingers care about higher education? I suspect most of them are cheering the reputational damage to NYU. The false shows of concern about the future of higher ed are just about as transparent as it's possible for them to be.
