- exabrial 4y agotaxes
- jen20 4y agoAs a non-citizen permanent resident living in the US: how? Even the exit tax applies.
- anuragsoni 4y agoImmigrants in the US (including people who aren’t permanent residents) are considered residents for tax purposes and pay the same tax rate as citizens.
- olliej 4y agoWhat? do you think non-citizens don't pay taxes? Non-citizens pay at least the same taxes as citizens, I recall there being some write offs that were only applicable to citizens so it's possible that non-citizens pay more in some cases. Obviously non-citizens also pay the same sales taxes as citizens. The only difference is you don't get a say in how your tax dollars are used. So much for "no taxation without representation". Oh, and have to budget time for "random" delays at airports.
- kbelder 4y agoNon-citizens can't be prosecuted for treason. I don't think. Ok, this isn't that big of a benefit.
- anuragsoni 4y agoI don’t think this is quite correct. https://constitution.congress.gov/browse/essay/artIII-S3-C2-1/ALDE_00001227/ https://constitution.congress.gov/browse/essay/artIII-S3-C2-... for further reading, but non citizens owe temporary allegiance to the United States while residing within US, and can be charged with treason.
