I really hate getting automated messages on my birthday from places like insurance companies that require my phone number and birth date. I have even gotten them from companies where I applied for their service but didn't go through with it and am not a customer. It's really impersonal and annoying. A business relationship does not entitle a company to be overly friendly and insert themselves where they don't belong.
