I don't think he's worried about his own health so much as formulating the excuse as an insult. The subtext is pretty clear to me, at least.
Only semi-related, but a Russian once told me that in the West people lie to manipulate, but in Russia people lie to your face to insult you. Whether he was lying to my face is a question left as an exercise to the reader.
- 4ggr0 4y agoYes, that's what I think as well. The second part of your comment sounds interesting as well. I don't know if that's true, but I noticed as well that the we westeners seem to do similar things like the ones we criticize, we just do it while claiming that it's for [freedom, democracy, safety, increased GDP, jobs, ...]. But that's how international politics works, I guess.
