I tend to be more pragmatic. I advise people to check the availability of jobs in their area for a given language (or framework), the relative pay of these jobs, and choose what to specialize in based on that. Passion fades, but you’ll always need a job. Chasing fulfillment through work isn’t sustainable for most. Find meaning and purpose outside of work. Just my .02.

- tasuki 4y agoIt's ok for you to optimize for money and employability. I'm not sure whether it's ok to tell other people to do so. > Passion fades, but you’ll always need a job. No and no. The original post was about having fun with weird languages. If it were a post about windsurfing, would you advise people to check the availability/pay of jobs for programming languages/frameworks instead of going windsurfing?
- le-mark 4y agoPerhaps you’re not a native English speaker and you’re not aware of the definition of advise? It’s in no way telling anyone what to do! > offer suggestions about the best course of action to someone.
- tasuki 4y agoYou're right I'm not. And you're right I misrepresented what you said - I'm sorry!
