Anyone with a consumer card is benefiting from this work right now, if they're on Adrenalin version 22.7.1 or higher (from July).
The professional validation of their professional-level drivers for their professional-level cards isn't some kind of proprietary driver segregation, it's a strong guarantee that these drivers are functioning and stable for professional users to stake their business on.
"The AMD Software: PRO Edition 22.Q3 driver has been tested and approved by Dell, HP, and Lenovo for stability and is available through their driver downloads"
For my gaming PC, I'm okay trying new drivers and maybe seeing some graphical glitches and having to downgrade. For a professional workstation, I would not deploy new drivers unless I know they're going to be as stable and reliable as the ones I have already. A 79% performance bump is useless if it crashes Maya every two hours or something.
