- candiodari 4y agoIn reality it's being replaced by TikTok. End result is neither reclaiming time nor better politics ...
- Karunamon 4y agoAt least TikTok makes it easy to opt out of political programming. A couple of thumbs down presses whenever those show up in your feed does the trick.
- syntheticnature 4y agoFor the moment, that is. I'm not saying this is an issue specific to TikTok, just that it's very easy for them to change how things work, just as Instagram is changing to increase ads.
- mradek 4y agohey I'm new to HN and was searching for some posts on "XMPP" and other chat backends and saw you posted on https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=27635547 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=27635547 I am considering using ejabbered and wondering what your thoughts are on it today. Thanks
- pclmulqdq 4y agoSame for YouTube.
- fullshark 4y agoIt will just go somewhere else that you consider unworthy. The tools and methods we've developed to attract eyeballs are not going away.
- tablespoon 4y ago> This is great news. The faster Meta can decline and people can reclaim their time the better. Why? Facebook's decline doesn't mean social media's decline. They'll just go to TikTok, which I understand is even worse [1]. [1] And by worse, I mean a slicker and more addictive product. It might feel more enjoyable, but that's actually worse, IMHO.
- mechanical_bear 4y agoI quit meta sometime ago. I just spend the time on HN now. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
- summerlight 4y agoThose naive people cannot even imagine the worse. FB and IG are not even close to the worst.
- micromacrofoot 4y agoThat ship has already sailed, they're not reclaiming time, it's just going somewhere else that's more effective at capturing time.
