Woman handcuffed in police car parked on train tracks survives locomotive impact
- theandrewbailey 4y agoThis is not a reasonable outcome for a suspected road rage incident. Officers were 100% negligent in parking the cruiser on the tracks.
- Nextgrid 4y agoLeaving a perfectly functional car on train tracks should be grounds for strong punishment even if nobody was in the car (as it endangers the crew of the train and at the very least causes significant property damage). I frankly can't imagine why anyone in their right mind would do that, let alone with a suspect in the car - are US police departments intentionally selecting for stupidity?
- Nextgrid 4y agoThis should be treated as attempted murder but I'm sure it won't be.
- Someone 4y agoI’m not sure whether this state has it, but it is possible falls under qualified immunity (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qualified_immunity https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qualified_immunity, https://reason.com/category/civil-liberties/qualified-immunity/ https://reason.com/category/civil-liberties/qualified-immuni...) If so, there’s no way the police officers will be persecuted. (IMO, qualified immunity is beyond ridiculous)
