Ask HN: Will the Tesla Optimus be used as soldiers in war?
- King-Aaron 4y agoIts vapourware, that's all.
- Fricken 4y agoWe"ve got robots that can fly, and kill things from the sky. What advantage would a bipedal robot have over a flying one in military applications? I don't think any.
- Huh1337 4y agoShow me a robot flying through a dense forest, please
- Fricken 4y agoOk, here. Let me Google that for you: https://youtu.be/rPul9WKQ6oQ https://youtu.be/rPul9WKQ6oQ
- Huh1337 4y agoThat's a little disappointing, it's not going to carry a gun any time soon. Navigating a drone heavy enough for that is going to be much harder. It's also probably not going to be shooting artillery anytime soon too, while a robot certainly could.
- inphovore 4y agoOdd question. Have you not seen the Boston Dynamics robot? That one will certainty be used as a weapon of war. Why Tesla Optimus? That’s like wondering if a roomba will be used in war. https://youtu.be/0QuXgUMcGLI https://youtu.be/0QuXgUMcGLI
- inphovore 4y agoI stand corrected! Although I will point out, BD didn’t say they won’t build robotic weapons platforms. They said they won’t weaponize their commercial/consumer platforms. Let’s see how that turns out… one decade at a time.
- microtherion 4y agoIn its current state, it might be quite lethal by virtue of causing opposing troops to burst with laughter.
