Adding software to the Steam Deck with systemd-sysext
- rektide 4y agoWhat a wonderful post. Igalia is such a great company, can figure out what the nodal points of potential are in the world, & makes use. Systemd is such a wonderful system with such built in extensibility: here systext, but the whole "drop in" config with .d directories is something they codified well for extensibility, after hundreds of ad-hoc implementations of similar in various daemons. Knowing the lay-lines, the potential about us, is such an amazing capability that software engineers can bring out. Being able to read & leverage ecosystems, knowing the flux points, can make shit 90% easier so regularly. Thanks Alberto for this great post: good shit, helping open us all up out of a bind, with great tools we already have & use, with little fuss: a capital example.
