- capableweb 4y agoSeems current USB-C is limited to 100W, future will be limited to 240W. Seems most modern mobile GPUs could exceed 100W, but are within 240W at least so seems we're relatively safe. But who knows with the new GPUs... Maybe should be a bit more headroom?
- neogodless 4y agoJust some reference numbers off the top of my head. Mobile GPU max power (using Geforce examples) 80W GTX 1660 Ti (mainstream/high end before Geforce RTX took off) 115W RTX 2060 (if OEM tunes it that high) 140W RTX 3070 175W RTX 3080 Ti
- jhoelzel 4y agoExactly! paired with a powerfull cpu you will drain the battery while working on full performance. Also sadly there are multiple reports about this issue with microsoft products too. That and coil whine...
- rtkwe 4y agoDoes the law require only USB-C charging or must charge by USB-C? The language of "will have to be equipped with a USB Type-C charging port" makes it sound like it's only required to take USB-C power not that it can't have a higher power alternate port.
- jhoelzel 4y agoI too believe that is going to the case. So technically my SB1 qualifies but I need an extra power brick if I want to use my gpu at max too!
- jhoelzel 4y agowhile true I only have one and would need two! If I could connect my SB1 directly to my monitor I totally would :/
