Former Google engineer reveals the secret YouTube plot to kill IE6 (2019)
- sylware 4y agoHuh? They killed all alternatives, except gecko, which they finance to avoid clear-cut anti-trust I guess. Not to mention mozilla has a reputation of being made of in-betweeners, close to cult. Additionally there is a trend to test internet sites only on blink or webkit. Remains webkit from apple. But, apple/google/microsoft/etc are vanguard/blackrock ppl. Open your eyes, they are actually the same. There is no real competition, only "internal" competition in the vanguard/blackrock galaxy, and don't forget blink is a fork of webkit. Namely, monopoly on web engines was acheived a few years ago. That without mentioning that webkit/blink/gecko SDK suffers the same issues with grotesquely and absurdely complex and massive c++ compilers, written themselves with c++ (aka bootstrap hell). The way out of this is only extremely strong regulation: mandatory real life interoperability with simple but able to do a good enough job, open and free as in freedom, stable in time, protocols, usually noscript/basic (x)html. That would be on a "leveled" SDK to allow sane bootstrap, from "simple" computer languages up to abomination like c++ (gcc move to c++, one of the biggest mistakes in software ever), even if I am a "everything in RISC-V assembly" guy to cure the world from the "compiler" disease. Those companies mostly provide toxicity for the world via digital fashion and planned obsolescence. The US administration will have a very hard time at regulating them, because those guys are nastily malicious.
