PostHog is open-source product analytics. Graduated YC W20, we were the most popular B2B software HN launch since 2012. Our GitHub repo [0] has 9.4k stars and a growing and active community. We raised a reasonable Series B last year and still have plenty of runway, so there is lots of upside. We're about 35 people and aim to keep a lean team building an amazing product.
We have a culture of written async communication (see our handbook [1]), lots of individual responsibility and an opportunity to make a huge impact. Being fully remote means we're able to create a team that is truly diverse. We're based all over the world, and the team includes former YC founders, CTOs turned developers and recent grads.

- throw14082020 4y agoThere's a bug in the compensation calculator. For the same experience level (Senior 1, Expert 1.11 - 1.2), - in London (should be 0.67), £128,651 - £139,082 plus equity - in Jamaica (0.6), $157,176 - $169,920 plus equity (this is $142376.47 to 153920.50, which is higher than London) Why is London cheaper than Jamaica?
- john-radio 4y agoIt would be really funny if the compensation "calculator" pretended to be doing arithmetic behind the scenes by having the decimal factor labels on all the location, seniority, and other modifiers, when really it just looked up the salary grade range from a hashmap and served it to the user. "The numerical modifiers are guidelines, more than actual rules..."
- g_k_1 4y agoThey are using exchange rates from January 2022.
- devmor 4y agoYour compensation calculator is one of the coolest things I've seen in a while, I hope more companies adopt this kind of transparency.
- espadaben 4y agoBy far the coolest thing I have seen. And not just the calculator the whole career's page and the benefit's page is amazing. Kudos to the whole team
- spinlock 4y agoAgreed. I love the idea of not negotiating pay all the time.
- pcthrowaway 4y agoI also found it interesting (link for the curious: https://posthog.com/handbook/people/compensation https://posthog.com/handbook/people/compensation) But would have preferred some clarification about the reasoning behind the location multipliers. Every city in Canada is 0.6, which is also the same as the entirety of India. While CoL in Vancouver is comparable to much of the bay area (and Toronto is close)
- g_k_1 4y ago0.6 is the floor. It's explained below.
- numan 4y agoCame to say this. Considered applying from Vancouver until I saw the compensation calculator. No way Vancouver is the same multiplier as every other city in Canada
- 73cQDJGkmUCvF 4y agoHave you considered that maybe they're paying above market for the other cities instead of below market for Vancouver?
- peke 4y agohi! are any of the open full stack engineer positions available for entry-level candidates?
