Palantir Employee Contributed to Rust, no action was taken
- fargle 4y agoGood. Folks in the free software movement need to understand that free means free. And yes, North Korea can benefit from GCC and Linux. So what? But a bug-fix is a bug-fix and a contributor and a contribution should not be discriminated against politically, especially at such an elliptic and third hand way. Was there a problem with the contributor or contribution? No. "oh no, a patch was pushed by a person employed by a company that contracts for a government agency that I really don't agree with. And nobody did anything"... Good.

- vegai_ 4y agoTo establish the reliability of the person saying this, here's them a bit later in the thread: > the US government is running concentration camps and Palantir is directly responsible for putting people there But then again, these tweets are from June 2020, and the world looked very different back then. This might have seemed like reasonable critique.
