I really don't understand how Next.js can be so big without a native way to do background jobs. Isn't that a requirement in anything that is not just a static p

  Next.js shouldn’t have a way to do background jobs. That requires maintaining state somewhere and is not its responsibility.

  Most server-side frameworks don't even include background processing as a "native" part of the framework.
