Revolutions Occur When a Portion of Elites Defect from the Existing Regime
- BMc2020 4y agoA whole lot of assertions stacked one each other, depending on all of them to be true. I lost count of the weasel words: often, sometimes, suggests, can lead to, most etc. etc. He ends: When people talk about money/wealth/income, you can often substitute it with social status (prestige, admiration, esteem) and you will see their true meaning. What many people (especially aspirational elites) truly care about is not the allocation of material goods, but the distribution of status. I'm sure many do. Is many a lot? Is many some? Is many enough? TL:DR; Node.js but you have to guess what the dependencies are.
- bediger4000 4y agoJust a recounting of Peter Turchin's cliodynamics as far as I can tell. Interesting, but not at all convincing. What is the article title suggesting? That an SJW faction of the US ruling elite is leading a revolution? That MAGA Republicans are going to take over by force? If the thesis of the article is correct, what are we supposed to watch out for, and what do we ignore? Clearly, we can ignore the peasants saying "We should improve society somewhat".
