This makes me feel financially and geographically very privileged. Where I live, you’re ten minutes walk from two independent bookstores, one floor-to-ceiling second hand bookshop, and about half a dozen charity shops with walls of books. There are various chains a short bus ride away with thousands more and a library we don’t really use (outside of the excellent Libby app). Also, Amazon, which I realise is killing all of the above (sorry). Sure, there’s a David Walliams section in every chain bookshop, and we own a dozen Julia Donaldson books. But I’m very lucky to have so many options.
