- mc32 4y agoDon't start karaokeing any rap/hip-hop or metal & derivatives' songs as they may indicate your propensity for misogyny, anti-authoritarian attitudes and a tendency to use vulgar and demeaning language toward women and self referencing minorities. This is absurd. Next up Amazon, errr, Alexa, hears employee conversations at home and auto notifies violators of their next morning meeting with HR.
- michaericalribo 4y agoUh yeah, karaoke isn’t an excuse to say racial slurs…you still have to try to be a decent human being who doesn’t make people around you feel like shit.
- mc32 4y agoThen the artists should be under the same requirements to not promote hate, misogyny, anti authoritarianism, etc. Don’t make pop music and then tell people they can’t sing along… it’s part of how music is enjoyed.
- version_five 4y agoI would hate to be in a social group where I was worried about other group members' (hard to generalize and call them friends) reactions to which songs I sang along with. That must suck.
- jprd 4y agoNot when you are a senior executive for the richest corporation that has ever existed, birthed the iPhone and YOU ARE BEING ACTIVELY RECORDED ON A MOBILE DEVICE. I sympathize with trying to make a callback you find hilarious and witty, and everyone thinks you are just being a crude dck. This happened to me in high school and a few times I was self-aware enough to recognize after. At no point was I in front of a 4k camera attached to a super-computer and a high-bandwidth connection to the net. Apple is trying to live in the future, sells luxury devices and has been positioning itself as the Good Place for your digital life. If my man here was so influential, and this was some random event, it'd be handled differently. Instead, he was thrown out the airlock nearly immediately. Clearly this shows that: He has absolutely been tagged on this before internally, officially or not. * He is replaceable and they've had a contingency in place for a minute now. I'm might be wrong, this is speculation (but pretty sound speculation I think). Even so, you know DAMNED well that when some direct-report(s) brought up concern that "The Blevinator" would be hard to replace, Tim Cook had to suppress a laugh and the urge to ask them to hold his wine.
- Justin_K 4y agoIf you are offended by what he said, I feel sorry for you.
- filoleg 4y agoHe wasn't presenting as an Apple employee there. He literally was just at a car show on his own free time for fun, and he got asked by some person with a camera that question. People usually go to those types events to talk to other people about cars and such, you know. The exec didn't say "I am an Apple executive such and such, and my answer is...". He just replied with a pretty inoffensive joke referencing a comedic piece.
