Netflix Expands Its Stupid Password Sharing Crackdown Cash Grab
- qualudeheart 4y agoI deleyed Netflix last month. Maybe I’ll return in a month or two, or maybe I’ll wait until the summer. But I’m no longer a subscriber anymore because of these shenanigans.
- bombcar 4y agoStreaming is a commodity and soon all the content owners will have their own streaming platform and Disney+ will rule over the world from the Tower of Baradur.
- philliphaydon 4y agoI find it funny that people complain that Netflix content is not good but don’t want to pay for their own account so that Netflix has money to increase production quality.
- RadiozRadioz 4y agoIt isn't that they lack the funds to increase production quality, it's that the funds they do have are being mismanaged.
- tinus_hn 4y agoWhat’s next? Becoming angry that you can’t get an unmetered home internet connection and share it with the whole neighborhood? You can’t go to a restaurant, have one person pay for the all you can eat buffet and share the food with the entire table? The accounts are personal and sharing passwords outside the household is obviously a TOS violation. End of story.
- magicalhippo 4y agoIf they are personal, then what on earth do I need with four simultaneous streams[1]? I'm never watching four things at once. [1]: https://help.netflix.com/en/node/24926 https://help.netflix.com/en/node/24926
- lttlrck 4y agoagreed this stupidity is begging for people to share accounts...
- Arrath 4y agoWhat qualifies as household? My nuclear family shares a netflix account, stemming from years and years ago (when Netflix was mail delivery dvds) and we were all under the same roof. In the years since us kids have grown and moved out, yet we still share the same Netflix account and use it to stream.
- tinus_hn 4y agoIf there is no legal definition you can go to court to get the edge cases defined. But yours is not an edge case, if you are not primarily living in the same dwelling you are not a member of the household.
- prirun 4y agoI agree with this from the article: "Netflix already limits the number of simultaneous streams per account, forcing you to pay more if you want more. In other words, the “problem” Netflix is trying to monetize has already been monetized. "
