It was clear to me that Google was completely unprepared to enter this market when their little display outside the big reveal was a Sega Dreamcast, NES Power Glove, and a copy of E.T. for Atari 2600. It was practically foreshadowing. I wouldn't be surprised if that display was pitched as a joke, and some executive approved it knowing nothing about these products. They just saw "Sega", "Nintendo", and "Atari" logos, and loved their product launch being compared to these instantly recognizable titans of the video game industry.
