I'm saying that their statement 60 days ago was a lie. A lie that leadership knew was a lie, yet they let the PR statement be generated and broadcasted regardless. Google will have financially benefited from that positive PR (from interest on invested money, if in absolutely no other way).

Right - if you re-read what I said, it was that you can believe negative PR ("we are shutting it down") while taking any positive PR ("we are totally not shutting it down!") with a grain of salt.
