Lua is pretty terrible as an embedded language. I’ve worked on numerous applications in both gaming and outside that industry in which lua was heavily utilized to “provide flexibility.” I’ve never liked it, and I probably never will. It has too many “weird” behaviors, ranging from the not-so-bad 1-based indexing to the absolutely absurd “everything is a table, but even tables are mixed metaphors between arrays and hashtables.”
