Yeah from first glance you'd think so, but the feedback loop even with CGMs and insulin pumps is just so much longer and less sensitive than what the body normally does.
The CGM measures glucose in the interstitial fluid, and the pump injects insulin subcutaneously, while the pancreas secrets it directly into the blood stream.
Even with the improvements we've made with synthetic insulin it just doesn't work as fast or as well as what we produce internally.
