I admire people learning a language like Esperanto just for its own sake, it's beautiful that people do something like that. It would be fun to learn Esperanto and be in on this diffuse subculture around the globe! But in terms of pure practicality, learning Spanish is tough to beat. It's generally the best candidate second language for English speakers to learn.
