I don't understand how this person went from opposing the Patriot Act and the general conduct of the Bush Administration in Afghanistan as being unconstitutional to supporting violently supporting Trump, a man who openly violated the constitution from the day he stepped into office (i.e., violating the Emoluments clause).
This person's behavior is that of a anti-american, anti-constitution fascist and it baffles me that fact is not readily apparent to the people who follow him.

- ZeroGravitas 4y agoPossibly another example of the libertarian-to-alt-right pipeline: https://www.thedailybeast.com/the-insidious-libertarian-to-alt-right-pipeline https://www.thedailybeast.com/the-insidious-libertarian-to-a... > “People should be free to exercise complete control over their own person and property. If blacks are committing crimes, or Jews are spreading communism, discriminating against them is the right of any property owner. The fact that he may or may not miss out on good blacks or Jews is a risk he takes, and the merit of his decisions will be proven out by the market. Since a libertarian society would permit this, it seemed foolish that I should be compelled to support a democratic government policy which did not… It was only after all this that Donald Trump seemed worth taking seriously.” My own take on this, which the above quote supports, is that removing government support from groups you hate, is a baby-step towards using the government to suppress the groups you hate. The former is much easier to disguise as noble and non-discriminatory, even if that's not the underlying motive.

I can see police officers getting on board with an "oath" to protect such civil liberties. But where is that slippery slope? How do we identify it? Because clearly (in my opinion), the guy took a good long ride down the slope. How do you go from supporting individual liberties to fascism so quickly? And to be so blind about that transition? From an American lens, a lot of Americans would be generally appalled by Germany's behavior during WW1 & WW2. But I wonder, how "innocent" the people of Germany slid into these extreme viewpoints without really understanding what was happening. I greatly fear that America is now currently slipping in the same fashion.
- Ferrotin 4y agoYou don’t understand? Obama openly sneered at the constitution with DACA and Operation Chokepoint. Biden has student loan debt cancellation, the ATF openly creating registries of gun owners, vaccine mandates, and the government working “with” corporations to censor Americans on the internet. How is his support of Trump something you don’t understand? And you brought up foreign policy. Another reason he’d support Trump. But the emoluments clause!
